Uniform Policy
Purpose:
The American Gulf School (AGS) Uniform and Appearance Policy is designed to foster a professional and respectful learning environment. By promoting a sense of unity, school pride, and professionalism, the policy ensures students are appropriately dressed for all academic and extracurricular activities. Adherence to this policy is a representation of a student's commitment to school values.
- All uniform items must be clean, in good condition, and worn appropriately at all times.
- AGS reserves the right to determine the appropriateness of student dress and take further action if required.
- Some made-to-order items may have a delivery time of up to two weeks.
All students must have the following required uniform items for their respective grade levels.
Required Uniform Items
- Official White Shirt: The white shirt is a required part of the formal uniform and must be worn on designated assembly days, for formal events, and during school visits.
- Dark Blue Polo Shirt: This polo shirt is part of the non-formal daily uniform.
- AGS PE Kit: The official PE kit is mandatory for all physical education classes.
Grade-Specific Requirements
- Pre-KG to Grade 3: Students in these grades are required to have the official AGS cap.
- High School (Grades 9-12): The formal uniform for these students also includes a school scarf, tie, and formal jacket.
Bottoms (All Grades)
- Students may choose from official school-approved pants, skirts, shorts, and skorts. Available options are determined by grade level.
Standard Non-Assembly Days On all non-assembly days (excluding PE days), students should wear the AGS Non-Formal Uniform, which includes the dark blue polo shirt and approved bottoms. KG girls may wear dark blue shorts under their dresses.
Assembly Day Uniform On designated assembly days, all students must wear the AGS Formal Uniform, which includes the official white shirt and approved bottoms.
- Kindergarten: Thursday
- Primary School (Grades 1-5): Tuesday
- Middle School (Grades 6-8): Wednesday
- High School (Grades 9-12): Monday
Physical Education (PE) Days Students must wear the official AGS PE Kit on their scheduled PE days. The AGS cap is mandatory for students in KG – Grade 2 for outdoor play.
Winter Wear During colder months, students may wear the following official AGS outerwear :
- KG to Grade 5: AGS V-neck or AGS Cardigan.
- Grades 6 to 12: AGS Fleece Jacket. No other outerwear items are permitted
School Trips and Events Uniform requirements for school trips and events will be communicated to students and parents with clear instructions specific to each activity.
Headwear Students in KG – Grade 2 must wear AGS headwear for outdoor play. All other students are encouraged to wear AGS headwear, particularly on warmer days.
School Bags All school bags must be of a size that fits inside the student's locker and can be carried with ease.
- KG Locker Dimensions: 33cm x 29cm x 40cm
- All Other Locker Dimensions: 35.8cm x 43cm x 45cm
Shoes All student shoes must be closed-toe and appropriate for a school environment.
- Permitted Colors: Black, dark blue, or white.
- PE: Students must wear trainers on PE days.
- Not Permitted: Open-toed shoes, Crocs, or studded footwear.
Jewelry and Accessories Any jewelry or accessories worn at school are the student's responsibility. The school is not liable for lost or damaged items. No items of jewelry are permitted during PE classes.

- Hair must be clean and tidy at all times. The school reserves the right to determine if a hairstyle is not aligned with school expectations.
- No makeup products are permitted on school grounds.
- Nails must be neat, tidy, and of an appropriate length.
AGS expects consistent adherence to the uniform policy. Uniforms will be checked daily.
- First Offence: A phone call will be made to the students’ 7home to request that the correct uniform be brought to school.

- Third Offence: The student will be removed from their class timetable by the Head of School. Parents or guardians will be contacted and invited to a meeting with the Head of School. The student will only be permitted to return to class after wearing the correct uniform and signing an undertaking with a parent or guardian.
